How to use afdp

afdp keeps tables for your AI apps, so Claude, ChatGPT and others can read and change them for you. It records every change, holds the big ones until you approve them, and lets you undo any of them.

1. Create a workspace

A workspace is one set of tables, such as your clients and invoices. Create one on your account page. Each workspace has its own address, which you give to your AI apps:

https://your-workspace.afdp.nkh.do/mcp

2. Connect an AI app

In Claude, on claude.ai or in the desktop app:

  1. Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. Name it afdp, paste the workspace's address, choose Add, then Connect.
  3. Sign in with your email if asked. On the next page, name the agent (for example "Claude") and choose what it may do. It can only make new tables if you tick May create tables and change their columns, and only fill the tables you give it read and write access to.
  4. In a chat, open the tools menu under the message box and check that afdp is on.

In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http afdp https://your-workspace.afdp.nkh.do/mcp, then type /mcp in Claude Code to sign in.

ChatGPT, Cursor and other apps that take MCP connectors work the same way: add a custom connector or MCP server with the workspace's address, then sign in.

Each app you connect becomes its own agent, with its own permissions, and its name is on every change it makes. You can connect several apps to one workspace.

3. Ask for what you need

Talk to your app as usual. For example:

To see the tables yourself, open the workspace from your account page. You can filter them, edit cells and add rows there.

4. Review what agents do

An agent's changes are grouped, usually one group per request. The Changes screen in your workspace lists them, newest first, with the agent that made each one.

New tables, columns and rows apply at once, and so do edits to 10 rows or fewer. Deleting rows, editing more than 10 rows, removing a column or table, and changing a column's type wait for you. The app says when something is waiting, often with a link to it. Open it on the Changes screen and choose Approve or Reject. Agents can't approve anything themselves, even if text in a table tells them to.

Those are the defaults. On the Agents screen you can change them for each agent: make more of its writes wait for you, or, on the paid plan, let some apply at once.

5. Undo

Open any applied change and choose Roll back. If you have edited some of the same cells since, afdp asks you, cell by cell, whether to keep your edit or go back. Rolling back the removal of a column or table brings it back with its data.

You can roll changes back for as long as your plan keeps history (see your account page). After that, afdp erases their old values but keeps the record of who changed what, and when.

6. Manage your apps

The Connections screen lists the apps connected to the workspace. Disconnect cuts one off at once, and its past changes stay. To change what an app may do, disconnect it and connect it again.

7. Take your data with you

Download on your account page saves the whole workspace, history included, as one file. The free, self-hosted afdp opens it on your own computer.

If something goes wrong

If the app says a tool failed, start a new chat. If that keeps happening, remove the connector and add it again.

If the app says it isn't allowed to do something, the agent has no access to that table. Disconnect it and connect again with more access.

If a change is waiting, approve or reject it on the Changes screen. Asking the app again won't apply it.
